Active Optical Cable

An active fiber optic cable that has modules at both ends of a fiber optic cable that allow direct communication between devices via the permanently linked fiber optic cable. It has fixed connectors on both ends and a specified length of cable. AOC's are essentially a transceiver product permanently embedded in a fiber optic cable.

InfiniBand is an industry-standard specification for Single Data Rate, DDR, QDR, FDR, EDR, HDR and NDR that defines an input/output architecture used to interconnect servers, communications infrastructure equipment, storage and embedded systems used in high-performance computing that features very high throughput and very low latency. InfiniBand is also used as either a direct or switched interconnect between servers and storage systems, as well as an interconnect between storage systems the high-speed cable products it needs have strict requirements for speed and delay.
