The SMI-1000-M2ST05 is a managed Gigabit Ethernet media converter that transparently connects copper Ethernet to multimode fiber. It supports 1000BASE-T over RJ-45 up to 100 m (328 ft) and 1000BASE-SX 850 nm multimode fiber with ST connectors up to 550 m (1804 ft).

Designed for security-critical network environments, this advanced fiber-to-Ethernet solution supports enterprise AAA authentication services including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA.
