The SMI-1000-M2SC05 is a managed Gigabit Ethernet media converter that seamlessly bridges 1000BASE-T copper Ethernet (RJ-45, up to 100 m / 328 ft.) with 1000BASE-SX multimode fiber (850 nm, SC connector, up to 550 m / 1804 ft.). It provides a transparent and reliable solution for extending Ethernet networks over fiber.
Built for security-critical environments, this advanced copper-to-fiber converter supports a full range of Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) services, including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA. To safeguard network credentials and prevent unauthorized access, it also offers secure management through SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet, and HTTPS.
