The SMI-1000-S2LC160 is a managed gigabit fiber-to-Ethernet media converter supporting 1000BASE-T (RJ-45) up to 100 m (328 ft.) to 1000BASE-ZX 1550 nm single-mode (LC) with a reach of 160 km (100 miles). It transparently connects copper to fiber and is designed for environments where network security is critical. The converter supports full AAA services—including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA—and provides secure management sessions via SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet, and HTTPS to protect credentials from network snooping.
