The Perle SMI-100-S1ST20D is a managed Fast Ethernet media converter that connects 100BASE-TX copper Ethernet (RJ-45, up to 100 m / 328 ft) to 100BASE-BX single-mode fiber with 1550 nm TX / 1310 nm RX over a single fiber using an ST connector, supporting distances up to 20 km (12.4 miles).
This advanced fiber-to-Ethernet media converter provides transparent copper-to-fiber conversion while offering comprehensive management and monitoring features.
Designed for security-sensitive environments, the SMI-100-S1ST20D supports a full range of authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services used in enterprise networks, including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA. To further protect credentials and management sessions from unauthorized access or network snooping, it supports secure management protocols such as SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet, and HTTPS.
