The Perle SMI-100-M2ST2 is a managed Fast Ethernet media converter that connects 100BASE-TX copper Ethernet (RJ-45, up to 100 m / 328 ft) to 100BASE-FX multimode fiber operating at 1310 nm with an ST connector, supporting distances of up to 2 km (1.2 miles).
This advanced fiber-to-Ethernet media converter provides transparent and reliable copper-to-fiber connectivity while offering full network management capabilities.
Designed for security-sensitive environments, the SMI-100-M2ST2 supports a comprehensive range of authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services commonly used in enterprise networks, including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA. To further safeguard user credentials and management traffic, Perle managed fiber converters support secure management protocols such as SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet, and HTTPS, helping prevent unauthorized access and network snooping.
