The Perle SMI-100-M2LC2 is a managed Fast Ethernet media converter that provides reliable connectivity between 100BASE-TX copper Ethernet (RJ-45, up to 100 m / 328 ft) and 100BASE-FX multimode fiber operating at 1310 nm with an LC connector, supporting distances of up to 2 km (1.2 miles).
This advanced fiber-to-Ethernet media converter enables transparent copper-to-fiber conversion while offering comprehensive management and monitoring features.
Designed for security-sensitive environments, the SMI-100-M2LC2 supports a wide range of authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services commonly used in enterprise networks, including TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, and RSA. To further protect credentials and management traffic from unauthorized access, Perle managed fiber converters support secure management protocols such as SSH, SNMPv3, Telnet, and HTTPS.
